Career Development Week MENA Initiative

About the initiative

  • The Middle East and North Africa Career Development Week Initiative is an independent, national initiative founded by citizens of countries belonging to the Middle East and North Africa.
  • The initiative is not yet a formal institution, but it may become one in the future.
  • The initiative encourages, promotes, and welcomes cooperation, coordination, and integration with entities aligned with its vision, mission, and goals whenever possible.
  • Career Advisory Tools International www.int-cat.com (founded by Emad Helmy ) will emerge with specific roles when needed to facilitate coordination and cooperation with other entities, provide some simple resources, and receive other resources.
  • Definition of the Middle East and North Africa Region: The initiative adopts the definition used by UNICEF as of January 2021, which considers the following 20 countries to constitute the Middle East and North Africa region: “Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, the Syrian Arab Republic, Djibouti, Sudan, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Palestine, Yemen.

Vision and Mission

Our Vision: Career development services operate within a systematic framework in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Our Mission: The initiative seeks to raise awareness in our communities about the concept and importance of career development. We will work to support the organization and institutionalization of career development services within the Middle East and North Africa communities, so that they are nationally managed and supported on a gradual basis. The initiative also works to support the qualification and improvement of professional service providers.

Short and medium-term goals of the initiative

A. Providing a specific time (the third week of November annually) to celebrate professional development activities, particularly those related to the initiative’s vision and mission.
B. Providing a digital platform for exchanging experiences between governmental, civil and private institutions, universities, experts, and practitioners, and for showcasing experiences, expertise, articles, conferences, awareness-raising discussion groups, and more.
Providing an opportunity to agree on themes.
C. A dedicated annual forum for discussions, dialogues, and the exchange of experiences.
D. Providing a forum (to benefit from the forum, click here).
E. Providing an opportunity for networking (working together) between governmental, civil and private institutions, universities, and other institutions working in the field in different countries.
H. Providing an opportunity for all institutions, experts, and practitioners to learn about developments in the field.
